This USB dongle allows you to use your PC as a Modbus RTU Master or Modbus RTU Slave with any software that supports UART communications.
The cable uses the standard Modbus RTU pinout for RJ45, where pin 5 is A and pin 4 is B. Internally, it features an FTDI USB-to-UART converter connected to an RS485 transceiver.
Important: Although the connector is an RJ45 connector, this cable is **not intended for Ethernet communications**. It uses RS485, not Ethernet. Do not connect the dongle to an Ethernet port, such as those found on a router, switch, PC, or other Ethernet equipment.
The dongle can be used with any Modbus RTU software that supports UART communication, or you can create your own Modbus RTU scripts using Python.
Since the cable uses the standard Modbus RTU RJ45 pinout, it is compatible with all our Modbus RTU products featuring an RJ45 connector.
The cable is approximately 0.5 meters long.
